Privacy Policy

VetMyRide is a small business operated by Alper Cakir. We try to collect the minimum data needed to deliver a report and keep the service running. We never sell your information, and we don't run ad-targeting trackers.

What we collect

When you buy a report

• Email address — required so we can deliver the report and let you access it later via a magic link.
• Auction listing URL (Copart, IAAI, etc.) or VIN/lot number — what you paste to start a report.
• Listing photos — we copy listing photos from the auction site to our own storage (Vercel Blob) so the report renders consistently. Photos are deleted automatically 30 days after the auction ends.
• Vehicle data — VIN, year/make/model, mileage, damage codes, title type, location, current bid — all from the public listing.
• ZIP code(optional) — to size shipping cost in your max-bid math. We use only the 5-digit ZIP; we don't geocode you.
• Payment metadata — Stripe payment intent ID, charge amount, and result. Your card number is never seen by us or stored by us — Stripe handles it directly.

Automatic + technical data

• Basic logs from our hosting provider (Vercel) — IP address, user-agent, response codes. Retained ~30 days for debugging.
• Privacy-respecting analytics via Cloudflare Web Analytics (no cookies, no fingerprinting) and PostHog (anonymized session events). No cross-site tracking.
• UTM parameters in your landing URL if you came from a campaign — we store these against your report row so we can tell which channels work.

If we email you outside of a transaction

We may send a cold introductory email if your business email is listed in a public motor-vehicle-dealer license registry (Texas DMV, Florida HSMV, etc.). We tell you in the email exactly where we got the address. Every such email has a one-click unsubscribe and a "reply STOP" option. We honor opt-outs within 10 business days (CAN-SPAM) and stop sending immediately when processed.

Who we share data with

We use a small set of subprocessors to deliver the service. Each gets only what they need to do their job.

• Stripe — payment processing. Sees your email + card data + the transaction.
• Resend — transactional + outreach email delivery. Sees your email + the message body.
• Anthropic — runs the AI models that analyze listing photos and generate the report narrative. Sees the listing data + photos (NOT your email or payment data).
• Scrape.do — proxy service that fetches public auction listings on our behalf. Sees the auction URL.
• Vercel — hosts the website and stores listing photos as files. Sees logs + stored data.
• Supabase — Postgres database for reports + payments. Sees all stored fields.
• Cloudflare — sits in front of vetmyride.com for performance + security. Sees traffic-level metadata.

We never sell your data, and we don't share it with marketing partners or data brokers. We share data with law enforcement only when we receive a valid legal request.

How long we keep things

• Report data (vehicle info, AI output, verdict) — kept until you ask us to delete it.
• Listing photos — deleted automatically 30 days after the auction ends.
• Payment records — retained for 7 years for tax and accounting compliance.
• Email logs (sends, opens, clicks, bounces) — 90 days, then anonymized.
• Unsubscribe records— retained indefinitely so we don't accidentally email you again.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you everything we have on you— email request, we'll send the export within 30 days.
• Delete your data — same email request, we soft-delete within 7 days and hard-delete within 30 days. (We keep payment records as required by law.)
• Correct something— if a report has wrong info we'll fix or refund.
• Opt out of cold outreach — already covered by the unsubscribe link or replying STOP.

Email hi@vetmyride.comwith the subject "Privacy request" and we'll handle it. California residents have the same rights under the CCPA, plus a right to know whether we sell their data (we don't) and a right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

Cookies + similar tech

We use small amounts of browser storage (sessionStorage and first-party cookies) for things that genuinely need it — keeping you logged into a report tab, remembering a UTM tag across the checkout redirect, holding a draft coupon code. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

Children

VetMyRide is not directed at children under 13. If we learn we've accidentally collected data from a child, we delete it.

Changes

We'll update this page if our data handling changes and bump the "Last updated" date. For material changes we'll email everyone with an active report or credit balance.
